EdA's Broodmares * Hanoverians and Oldenburgs

EdA's ladies were the most important to us. They were fed a personnalized and balanced diet, free choice hay as well as Belisle feeds, a high quality local company with customized mixes, or Blue Seal. They received vitamins and chelated minerals as part of their regular diets and specific supplements as needed. Farrier visited them each 6 to 8 weeks, and they were on stricts vaccination and deworming schedules.

Each of our broodmares has been selected for their exceptionnal qualities: good overal conformation, above average gaits, and a friendly temperament come firsts in mind. Moreover, each new mare to join our broodmare band since 2009 needed to be fully eligible or already approved into the Main Mare Book of the German Hanoverian Verband and/or of the German Oldenburg Verband.

Donna Magica
Dormello x Mandara / Manstein

Imported German Oldenburg Verband mare Donna Magica by Dormello / Manstein / Waldsee

Donna Magica was a German Oldenburg Verband mare, imported from Germany while in foal to Dutch Warmblood sire Johnson. She gave birth in 2008 to Janosh, who was Premium at his foal inspection with the German Oldenburg Verband. Janosh since then changed hands and is now owned by FEI rider Mathilde Blais-Tétreault. Donna was also approved into the Main Mare Book of the German Hanoverian Verband. In 2016, Donna was victim of a severe dystocia while trying to give birth to her Quantensprüng foal. We were not able to save her baby on time, and despite all our efforts, Donna also had to be put down due to complications related to the dystocia.

Geronimo II x Czropa / Poprad

Canadian Warmblood mare Serenti by Geronimo II / Poprad / Leszek

Serenti was one of our two first broodmares. She has been an excellent producer for EdA, giving, foal after foal, calm temperaments, quiet dispositions and adorable, good looking babies. Approved for breeding with the German Oldenburg Verband, the Canadian Sport Horse and the ISR Oldenburg/NA, she was likely to retire from breeding duties in 2016 or 2017, but she, a week before Donna Magica, also had to be put down with her unborn Harvard foal, who was very big and in a breech presentation. Efforts to reposition her foal on time to save him was not successful, and due to distance from the equine hospital, it was unsafe to travel the 5hrs drive to get there, so the very hard decision was taken to put her to sleep on the farm, after more than 12 hours of combined efforts from us and two different veterinarians.
